Can smoking cigarettes deter the body from getting better when sick?
I’m a little worried about a dear friend who continues to smoke quite heavily even though she has been sick for 3 weeks, and now has been diagnosed with bronchitis. I tried to gently say she should stop smoking and she got angry with me. I’m very worried that her smoking is making her more sick. Should I be worried?
I am very worried she was told to take another week off of work, by her doctor who recently diagnosed her w/ bronchitis. She already has a respiratory problem to begin with, and she is no spring chicken either (about 52 years old) I worry that it will go into pneumonia.
smoking isn’t good for the body at all. smoking will actually make things worse when you are sick, especially with bronchitis. its a respiratory infection that’s not gonna get better by putting smoke in it. as an EMT i would suggest doing some more research and explaining to your friend that you just care about their well being and you want them to get better.
