Gum wrapper prom dress creator, Elizabeth Rasmuson, has caused quite a storm with a unique invention and design for the coming-of-age party.  She created the dress from hundreds of Wrigley is blue and white “5″ gum wrappers which you’ve been saving specifically for this occasion.

This enterprising teenager from Iowa have been planning her gum wrapper prom dress for some time, since August to be precise.  She said that she had been greatly inspired by some of the creative design she saw last year including the duct tape prom dresses which took people by surprise.

Rasmuson wasn’t alone in her exploits.  Her date for the party, Jordan Weaver, helped with the whole plan and says that she bought a ton of gum and gave it out to all the friends who would then give the wrappers back to be used for the dress.  Due to the fragility of the wrappers, a vinyl top coat was also added to strengthen the bodice.
